Hammill Wants To Impress

Adam Hammill has announced that he's returned to Wolves with a point to prove, as he looks to impress the new boss during pre-season.

After limited first team opportunities last season, he spent the back end of the season on loan at Middlesbrough and now he's hoping to prove he's got what it takes to be part of the new regime and show the form he did when he played in the Championship with Barnsley.

He said, "I’ve come back with the attitude of wanting to impress the new management and staff and hopefully establish myself as a regular first team player. Under Mick, I thought that when I played, I did reasonably well but didn’t get all that many opportunities. Towards the back end of the season, I needed to go out and play some games and that was good to go playing football again.

I’ve come back now and it’s a fresh start and a new chance to impress and hopefully I can play more this season. I want to try and help Wolves achieve promotion. I’ve had a few relegation battles at the clubs I’ve been at, so it would be nice to be at the other end of the table if I can this season."

Ståle Solbakken has been speaking to the squad on a one-on-one level and that will continue on the trip to Ireland and Hammill wants to find out what lies in store and if he has a chance of playing a key role next season, providing he impresses.

He said, "If I’m in his first team plans, then I’d be delighted to stay and try and show what I can do. Football is a strange game and you never know what is around the corner. There may be players coming and going, but hopefully I’ll be in the manager’s first team thoughts. I enjoy being here. I’ve come back to prove a point and I want to try and help Wolves have a successful season."
