Nat Bags Posh Move
Peterborough United have completed the signing of Nathaniel Mendez-Laing on a 3 year deal for an undisclosed fee.
The winger will fly out to Portugal at the beginning of next week to train with his new team mates.
After coming through the Wolves academy, he made 3 appearances for the first team, all in League Cup ties, before spending the 2010/11 season on loan at Peterborough. He made 5 starts for them, but the rest of his playing time as coming on as a substitute in a further 28 league and cup games. He scored 5 goals while at London Road.
Mendez-Laing said, "I felt it was the right move at the right time for me. I'm 20 years old now and I want to be playing football. When I heard Peterborough were interested, I was very keen to come and I am pleased everything has been sorted out. The manager has talked to me about formations that we will be using this season and I am excited. I loved my loan spell at Peterborough, the fans were fantastic and made me feel very welcome. Playing in the Championship was a massive attraction to me."
Darren Ferguson, Peterborough manager, said, "Nathaniel is a player that I know well. He did well for us in the loan spell and I think the key now is that he is our player. He has all the ability in the world, he is young, has great pace and it is now about fulfilling that potential. He can play wide or up front and gives us that something different. He is the type of player that we have probably lacked and I am pleased to get him on board."
Terry Connor said, "Nat hasn't had the best of luck with injuries this last year and things haven't quite worked out for him here, but I'd would like to wish him every good wish in his future career."
