Solbakken Unfazed
Ståle Solbakken remains unfazed by speculation surrounding his players, as he gears up to kicking off preparations for his first season at Molineux.
Some of the squad will return for fitness testing this week, ahead of the start of pre-season, with speculation continuing to follow some of the star names within the pack.
However, the boss says that it's normal for any football club, whatever their level, and will deal with any further comings and goings as and when they materialise.
He said, "I will talk to all the players when they come in on a one-to-one basis. That's normal and not anything to do with players leaving. There are no offers at the moment.
I want everyone to feel good and to have the heart to play for us this season. If there are key players who we rely on here that, for one reason or another, leave the club, we must have very good players coming in to fill their roles.
There is always one bigger fish out there that you have to keep up with and everyone knows that in football money talks so I can't promise anything, but the players being mentioned are of great value for us and at this moment in time they are Wolves players and I hope they will be at the start of the season.
There may be players coming in and there may be players going out, but the aim for Wolves is to be stronger when the transfer window is closed."
With the club having already made 3 signings in Björn Sigurdarson (subject to a medical), Frank Nouble and Jamie Tank, Solbakken had his say on Sigurdarson and Nouble, saying, "Sigurdarson is a player I have known for quite a few years and he's a player of great potential. He's very young and he's one for the future, but he has the physical qualities to make an impact in the Championship. He is a player who can score a few goals for us this season.
When you are only 21 and coming to a new country, you need time to settle in and I think we have players in the team who can help him and make him feel good from day one.
I don't know as much about Frank Nouble, but I have been told about him and I have seen some clips. He also has great potential. I have seen that he has been at different clubs over the last 2 or 3 years and for a young guy, I think it is important for him to now settle down in one place.
He is also young and may need some time but I think he can do it for us."
