Ståle Solbakken officially started his new job as Wolves manager yesterday and admitted that he's got no problem with the high expectations of fans. He believes the club have reason to be optimistic ahead of the new season, but remains aware of the tough challenge facing himself, his squad and the staff as they return to the Championship after 3 successive seasons in the Premier League.
The new boss said, "I can't promise anything, but I know expectations are high for the team to do well. As a coach, you expect fans to have expectations and you would rather that than not.
We will try everything we can to keep them happy and if we do that, I think we will have a good season. We will try hard to do well in every game and if we do, then we have a chance of doing well. I have seen sides from the Championship and many teams want to compete for the top 6 places, so we have to start well. I feel really positive.

I know that last season was a difficult one. It was the same for me too, so we are all looking for revenge this season."
Solbakken will meet the players as they return in stages over the next couple of weeks, fresh in the knowledge of being aware of many of their abilities, after studying DVDs of last season since taking the job.
He revealed he has tried to run the rule over as many of the players as possible, including those out on loan and the fringe players given their chance in cup games.
He said, "I watched the games and I feel I'm prepared now and know the players a bit more. I also know about the fringe players, because I looked at the cup games.
I think I have a pretty good view about the situation, about what was good last year and what was not so good.
I am excited about the season and I know we start with a big game at Leeds, but we can't get too carried away by one game. It is a marathon."
